How do you let God make you a resurrected woman? How has he done this in your life?

I fall daily but Jesus teaches me to get back up. He teaches me the beauty in dying to oneself so that He can resurrect us into something greater, something more glorious.

How do you think living out the resurrection looks like in daily life?

To me, living out the resurrection in daily life is seeing & seeking the Lord in my own and other’s authentic beauty. Daily resurrection looks like being vulnerable and raw with not only the Lord but also with ourselves. Rising comes from allowing Him to form us into everything He’s ever wanted for us so that we may reach our true potential. Small resurrections come when learning to surrender our own broken wills so that our will can align with His. Resurrection to me is becoming so broken that you have no choice but to let God take over and mold you.

You can choose to stay broken in the grave, or you can choose to rise and live in the grandest of adventures with Christ.

How do you defeat these difficulties?

Sometimes life just gets too hard. It is easy to get lost in the darkness and negative. Every time I seem to be getting back up, I just fall harder. But so did Jesus, and that is how I defeat these difficulties -- through Him. When life gets to be too much, I swallow my pride and hand it all to Jesus. When I welcome Him into my fight, he takes my broken mess and resurrects it into something much greater than my wildest dreams.

What helps you center back in with Christ?

Staying steadfast. Prayer. Prayer. PRAYER. Feelings are fleeting, and oh man, my emotions are constantly changing. Choosing to pray every day, several times a day, and making time to intimately visit Jesus in adoration or mass helps draw me closer.

One thing I have been reflecting on for a while now is how Christ resurrects in us and through us daily. A beautiful image and reality I have been walking with for the past year is how Christ resurrects in the Eucharist. Every time we receive Him in the Eucharist, He willingly chooses to get crucified by our mouths again, and He willingly chooses to resurrect for us in us. Everytime we drink from the cup of His blood, it is like we get to kiss the heart of Jesus, and He willingly and zealously chooses to give us these abundant graces over and over again, delighting in us when we choose Him.

I need constant reminders of His goodness and His steadfastness. Be mindful of your season of life and recognize the invitation to lean on Him through it. Be present to where you are & who you are in Him right here, right now.

Have you ever had a medal that represented something for you or changed something for you?

I am currently wearing four jewelry pieces, that serve as great daily reminders.

1. A rosary bracelet a dear friend made me her senior year of college.

2. A chain that I turned into a bracelet with a miraculous medal attached to it. It serves as a reminder of my consecration to Jesus through Mary. It is one of my favorites and it reminds me to constantly draw my heart closer and consecrate my will to Jesus through Mary. Lots of Love.

3. An Anklet I made last school year when I was going through a tough time. It originally had five metals on it - a cross, a St. Michael medal, a Sacred Heart & Immaculate heart medal, an Our Lady of Perpetual Help medal, and another miraculous medal. Today all that remains is the Our Lady of Perpetual Help medal and the miraculous medal, but I am thankful they remain because they are certainly the two that mean the most to me. I ended my Marian consecration with my best friend on the feast of Our Lady of Perpetual Help and I can not tell you how many times she has come to my aid and helped me through some very tough times.

4. A Unity Cross necklace. I received this over the summer when I served as a LifeTeen Summer Missionary. This one has so much special meaning to it. Not only does it constantly remind me of my greater community and mission, but also the weight of the cross and the beauty of the passion. There is such deep meaning of this cross and its inspiration in my life, if I had the time, I could go on and on!

If you had to share one thing with women what would it be?

Be gentle with yourself. You are human, you will fail. Be loving with yourself. You are worth more and beautiful beyond belief! Find your identity as the Beloved in Him.

Love,
Mikayla
