Does Your Heart Hurt?

As it is the feast day of Our Lady of Lourdes, a woman very close to my heart, I've been thinking a lot about healing. When I ask the Lord for healing, I'm typically begging for complete peace, resounding joy and a miraculous life without strife.

However, the other day, He suggested this season may be a little different. He reminded me that He heals through heart ache, too.

Does your heart hurt?

If your answer yes (like I am), then your Lord, your God must be carefully shaping it. Maybe the Lord is molding it back into shape & wholeness. With the reshaping and changing of our hearts - the very center organ of our being from which all our physical being flows - we feel pain. He cannot restructure us without it.

Though He is gentle with his maker's hands, just like a surgeon causes pain when restructuring our bodies, our divine physician often has to do the same.

Just like the restoration of your broken bones causes physical hurt, so may the restoration of your heart.

In the molding, changing, and healing lies pain. But this is important pain - do not numb yourself as a surgeon may do during physical healing. This is your spirit changing and coming alive.

For in this pain comes growth - feel it - and when it hurts, know He is restoring. One cannot stretch, mold and reform without causing feeling. The pain is just Him fixing, stretching & chiseling away at your heart so that it may be made perfect like His.

So if you pray for healing, and your heart begins to feel an even greater ache, have hope, it is only your heart being held and formed in the hands of your maker.

He is working on you & He is not finished yet.

Our Lady of Lourdes, Pray for us!

In full life,

Caroline
